The 2011 Poggio Argentato (Sauvignon, Traminer) is very pretty in this vintage. An expressive, floral bouquet leads to juicy peaches, mint, light honey and exotic spices. The 2011 possesses lovely freshness and vibrancy, with Sauvignon leading the way, especially in the bouquet. A clean, saline finish rounds things out in style. This is easily one of the very finest Italian whites of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014.
Le Pupille is one of the most fascinating wineries in Italy. Every few years seems to bring a revitalization. The newest development is the arrival of consulting oenologist Luca D’Attoma. It will be interesting to see where Le Pupille goes in the coming years. I think it is safe to say D’Attoma is the hottest winemaker in Tuscany right now.
