The entry-level white 2009 Poggio Argentato rises from the glass with flowers, honeysuckle, jasmine and white peaches. It reveals lovely depth and a long, polished finish, with clean mineral notes that invite a second taste. This is an absolutely delicious white from the Tuscan coast. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2012.
Elisabetta Geppetti is doing just about everything right at Le Pupille. A massive tasting of 30 wines going back to 1987 found a number of older vintages in great shape and a signficiant rise in quality starting around 2000 that continues to the present. I will report on that tasting on www.erobertparker.com. In the meantime, readers will find much pleasure in these new releases. The only wine I didn't care for was the entry-level red Pelofino, which in 2008 and 2009 doesn't approach the level of quality readers have come to expect from Le Pupille.
