The 2007 Falerno del Massico Vigna Camarato Riserva is a massive expression of 80% Aglianico and 20% Piedirosso that packs a powerful punch. The wine's appearance is extremely dense and dark and the mouthfeel is full-bodied and heavy. The bouquet shows tertiary aromas of cured meat and bacon fat, but you also get delicate tones of porcino mushroom, Indian spice and carob seed. As the wine takes on more air in the glass, the bouquet veers toward gamy aromas and earthy mineral tones. In fact, the nose shows a quick evolution. The wine is ready to drink now or could hold longer, although I wouldn't wait too long.
