The 2005 Family Reserve was barrel-fermented and aged in new French oak with lees contact. A glass-staining opaque purple, it sports a bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, cinnamon, violets, and blackberry. Layered on the palate, it has tons of succulent black fruit, licorice, and ripe tannin. This lengthy wine will unfold in the bottle for another 5-7 years and have a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2025.
Callejo family owns 60 hectares of Tempranillo vines ranging in age from 25 to 70 years. All of the wines are produced from estate fruit and fermented with native yeasts. Importer: The Artisan Collection, New York, NY; tel. (212) 608-0722
