The straight 2013 Ferrer-Bobet, a new red, is a blend of 48% Cari?ena, 22% Garnacha, 23% Syrah and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and is a kind of homage to the wines from the beginning of Priorat. The grapes are sourced from their young vines planted in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and used for the first time in 2013 complemented with the fruit from some 20-year-old vines around the village of Porrera. It fermented in a combination of stainless steel and oak vats and matured in French oak barrels (60% of them new) for some 12 months. There are some notes of evolution, fruit and wet slate with an herbal twist. The palate is quite elegant and fresh, with some creamy notes, quite fresh and balanced. It does show the character they were looking for. 11,000 bottles were produced and filled in August 2014.
