The 2012 Friuli Colli Orientali Biancosesto is a wine that I choose often when I see it at winebars and restaurants. The blend is 50-50 Friulano and Ribolla Gialla and I love the way that Biancosesto transports you to its territory of origin. These two grapes, both indigenous of Friuli, offer the yellow rose and stone fruit aromas that are so commonly found in the white wines of this corner of northeast Italy. In addition, Biancosesto has the structure and length to pair with the cheesy pasta dishes often found in these parts. Drink: 2014-2018.
