The entry-level 2008 Mauro is composed of 84% Tempranillo and 16% Syrah aged in barrel for 16 months. According to Garcia the 2008 was -Atlantic influenced- in a cooler but very fine vintage with plenty of hang-time. It is a full-bodied, rich, racy offering with layered fruit, a vibrant acid structure, and savory black fruit flavors. On the palate all components are nicely integrated coming together in a long, pure finish. It will evolve for 2-3 years and drink nicely through 2023.
Bodegas Mauro is owned and operated by renowned vigneron Mariano Garcia. The estate is located just outside the border of Ribera del Duero so that it must carry the generic DO of Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y Leon.
