The outstanding 1994 Tudela del Duero does not appear to be as thick and unctuous as the 1996, but it is more complete than the 1995. The wine possesses a dark ruby/purple color, and a smoky, pain grille-scented nose with aromas of black cherries, kirsch, and currants. Medium-bodied, with copious quantities of smoky, ripe, roasted flavors, this fruit-driven wine provides plenty of glycerin as well as a long, velvety-textured finish. It should drink well for 7-8 years.
This wine, a blend of primarily Tempranillo and old vine Grenache, is produced just outside the Ribera del Duero region.
