The purple-colored 2006 Jolie Bouche Syrah which spent 20 months in 24% new French oak. It offers up an expressive nose of cedar, incense, violets, blueberry, and blackberry. Medium to full-bodied, ripe and savory on the palate, it displays some elegance, good balance, and a fruit-filled finish. It will continue to blossom for another 2-3 years and drink well through 2018.
Efeste (FST, the initials of the three amateur winemakers who started the winery in 2005) produces 6000 cases distributed in 10 markets. Most of the wines are single varietals made with native ferments and bottled without fining or filtration. There are two Cabernet Sauvignon cuvees in the portfolio. Unlike with the Syrahs, the 2007s had yet to be bottled when I visited the winery.
