The 1999 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is the house’s best Barolo of the decade, and among its admirers is Bruno Giacosa. A dark garnet, its complex and penetrating aromas of rose petals, vanilla, cinnamon, and light mint are followed by an unusual power and depth, rich extract and superior density, plush tannins with grip and authority to burn. I would prefer to wait for this wine, and suggest consuming it from 2007 to 2025.
