The 2007 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is a beauty. Big, voluptuous, and layered with lots of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, licorice, black olive and roasted meat notes, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a full, layered mid-palate and superb length through the finish. Needing time to open up, it's just now starting to show hints of maturity and is another 4-5 years away from being fully mature. It will still be drinking nicely in 2025.

Nice and ripely sweet in fresh blackberry, cherry and oak flavors, this Syrah is made for drinking now. It’s dry and rich in tannins, with a soft, velvety mouthfeel. Shows interesting complications of smoked meats, pepper, cola and minerals. ——S.H.(3/1/2011)—— 88
