One of the most impressive Vernaccias in my tastings was this 2001 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Allata. It possesses attractive peach, lemon rind, and zesty fruit flavors, excellent texture, and an elegant, medium-bodied style displaying no notions of wood. It has more zip, richness, and length than most of its peers, but requires consumption over the next 12-18 months.
