A delicious effort, the tank-fermented 1999 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Alata remained on its lees until bottling. It offers a lovely citrusy nose with mineral notes in the background. Excellent freshness, good purity, and a fine texture result in one of the finest Vernaccias money can buy. An excellent value, it should be consumed over the next year.
