I prefer this to the 2006 Arrocal Maximo, which comes from 66-year-old vines raised for 26 months in new French oak. That is patently excessive since that is all that can be discerned on the nose. The palate is reasonably well-balanced, but it lacks the personality and sheer drinkability of the Arrocal Seleccion. Overdone and overoaked, which is frustrating since one can tell that there is a great wine yearning to get out. Drink now-2017. Bodegas Arrocal was founded in 1999 when Rosa and Moises Arrocal took over the family’s vineyard and expanded their holdings, constructing a gravity-fed winery in 2003. Their wines are matured mostly in French oak, approximately 80%, the remainder in American.Importer: Aurelio Cabestrero, Grapes of Spain, Lorton, VA; tel. (571) 642-0343
