The 2016 Pommard 1er Cru Clos de la Commaraine has an attractive bouquet with scents of mulberry, blackcurrant, wild mint and a touch of orange zest. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very focused and poised on the entry, quite linear and refusing to fan out on the finish. Yet I admire the tension here and the dash of black pepper on the finish that keeps the tongue a-tingling.
