Uccelliera’s 2010 Rapace, a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, is gorgeous in this vintage. Juicy dark cherries, plums, sweet spices, French oak and violets take shape in the glass. Dark rich and sumptuous, the 2010 is a beautiful example of the vintage. Firm tannins support a gorgeous, explosive finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. Andrea Cortonesi reflects the best of the artisan spirit in Montalcino. The Uccelliera wines are rich, layered and beautifully textured. Cortonesi vinifies his plots in three major subdivisions, corresponding to the altitude of the vineyards on the slope. Partial aging in French oak gives these Brunellos from the southern Castelnuovo dell’Abate district additional warmth and richness.
