I continue to be unmoved by the red wine offerings from Flora Springs. The 1990 Trilogy (which gets my nod as one of the most attractive labels in the wine world) continues to be an excessively stylized, nearly vapid wine with little personality, a shallow fruit intensity, and a frightfully quick finish. Although it reveals some pretty, herb-flavored black fruits in the nose and on the palate, the wine lacks substance and length. There is a tendency by many writers to call such wines "elegant" and "graceful," when, in fact, they are lacking personality and character. If you think I am being too tough, go back and taste any of the Trilogy offerings to date; these wines have not lived up to either the prices asked or their enthusiastic press.
