Even better, and the 2012 C?tes du Rh?ne les Garrigues is, as one famous winemaker put it, a giant-slayer. Coming from 80+-year-old Grenache vines (the same region as the Terre d’Argile) and checking in a 15.3% alcohol, it’s an incredible Cotes du Rhone that has fabulous kirsch, licorice, roasted meats and toasted spice aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, ripe and hedonistic, yet still pure, balanced and lively, it’s about as good as Cotes du Rhone gets and will drink well for a decade.
