Rex Hill has a tendency to add too much acidity to their wines. While that has been done with the 1994 Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir Reserve, the vintage's great ripeness and richness makes the acidity less intrusive. The 1994 Pinot Noir Reserve displays a tart edge to its character, but it is a forceful, muscular, medium to full-bodied wine with fine color, a dense constitution, and a spicy, clean finish. If the winery would add less acidity, these wines would be less compact and angular, with more texture and creaminess on the palate - a la fine French Burgundy.Tel. (503) 538-0666
