The ruby-colored 2001 Beaune Clos du Roi, was harvested at 12.6% natural potential alcohol, an impressive figure for a wine from this appellation in this difficult year. Notes of metal shavings and black berries can be found in both its aromatics as well as flavors. Light to medium-bodied and tight, it reveals some rusticity. Drink it over the next 2 years.
