Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Hales Shiraz has notes of warm blackberries and kirsch with a meaty/gamey undercurrent plus hints of damp earth, tobacco and black olives. Concentrated, fairly savory and medium to full-bodied in the mouth, it offers a medium-firm level of chewy tannins, refreshing acid and a long, earthy finish. Drink it now through 2016+.
