The 1994 Chardonnay Wildwood Vineyard Unfiltered exhibits a smoky, hazelnut, toasty, ripe, fruity, Burgundian-styled nose. The wine reveals a creamy texture, rich, full-bodied fruit, and a lush finish. At 13.9% alcohol, it is not a wimpish Chardonnay. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. There are four Chardonnay cuvees, but I did not taste the Sonoma Estate Chardonnay on my recent visit. If possible, winemaker David Noyes bottles the single-vineyard wines without any filtration. This is a winery that intentionally avoids as much processing and manipulation of the juice as possible. The single-vineyard wines see more oak (about 30%-35%), but the emphasis is placed on the vineyard character. Together with their ripe, rich fruit, these are fun and exciting wines.Tel.
