The 2001 Chardonnay boasts a knock-out nose of honeysuckle, acacia flowers, pears, and apple skins followed by a wine of considerable texture and ripeness, vibrant acidity, and an overall vivacious, uplifting style. The oak is kept in the background. Contrary to what many believe, my experience has shown these wines do not age that well, taking on more Sauvignon Blanc characteristics with cellaring, but this effort should last for 4-5 years. This pioneer of what is still referred to as the "Forman" style of Chardonnay (meaning no malolactic fermentation and less aggressive oak treatment) has produced their finest Chardonnay to date.Readers who enjoy restrained yet flavorful Chardonnays will adore this wine.Tel.
