The 2005 Aloxe Corton Vieilles Vignes smells and tastes of fresh black raspberries with hints of mint. Juicy and invigorating as well as polished on the palate, it finishes with cool, chalky persistence and a boatload of fresh black fruits. As an example of how Laurent works with ostensibly lower-echelon appellations, seven of his barrels of Aloxe-Corton – from a range of different parcels and microclimates will become his “cuvee tradition,” and only three will be bottled as “vieilles vignes.”
