Last Tasted 12/91The least flamboyant of Diamond Creek's trio of 1978 Cabernets, the Gravelly Meadow exhibits a pronounced earthy, tobacco, cedar, cassis-scented nose, and rich, full-bodied flavors that are nearly as concentrated as those in the Volcanic Hill and Red Rock Terrace. Like its brethren, it is a boldly flavored, dramatic wine that should continue to drink well for at least another 10-15 or more years. Frankly, I do not think any of the recent Diamond Creek Cabernets will ever be this impressive. Who knows why?
