The 1999 Combettes from Anne-Claude Leflaive is maturing in fine style. It possesses a gorgeous bouquet, albeit once you have allowed some SO2 to dissipate (so I suggest giving it 30 minutes decanting.) The nose offers lime flower, greengage, yellow flowers and a dab of lemon sherbet. The palate is crisp and fresh with light flinty notes and a crisp attack of lime. Perhaps it lacks the length of a truly great Puligny from Anne-Claude, but this is still an impressive Puligny with swagger, verve and a few more years of pleasure up its sleeve. Drink now-2024. Tasted January 2014.
