More Provencal garrigue, crushed rock, herb, earth, black cherry and black currant aromas jump from the glass of the dark ruby/purple-tinged 2009 St.-Joseph La Source. This fruity, endearing effort should be enjoyed over the next 5-6 years. (Not yet released) Ferraton’s parent company, Chapoutier, has done an excellent job in St.-Peray working with Marsanne and Roussanne. This long-forgotten appellation may turn out to be the Northern Rhone’s white wine answer to Burgundy’s Chablis.
