The 2004 Petit Verdot-Tempranillo (a 50-50 blend) is a saturated deep purple in color with a taciturn aromatic array of Asian spices, lavender, underbrush, blackberry, and scorched earth. Big and slightly rustic on the palate, this is a behemoth of a wine that appears to have all the right stuff but only time will tell. Give it 5-7 years and hope for the best. At the asking price, it is a relatively small gamble.
Bodegas Buezo's three offerings from the relatively new DO of Arlanza are uniformly excellent.
