Brancaia’s 2005 Tre is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the estate’s three properties in Chianti Classico and Maremma. It is a pretty wine with attractive notes of dark fruit, leather, spices and French oak. There is good complexity in the glass, although the wine’s intensity falls off a bit on the mid-palate. This, too, is an excellent candidate for near-term drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2012.
