Consulting oenologist Carlo Ferrini oversees winemaking at Brancaia, which owns vineyards in the Chianti Classico and Morellino di Scansano zones. The estate’s 2004 Tre is the only wine in this set that is somewhat disappointing. Although it offers a lovely texture and pretty, red fruit it also possesses an element of greenness that dominates the wine’s overall balance. This blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet is made from the estate’s holdings in Chianti Classico and Maremma. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016.
