The 2007 "Megas Oenos" is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and old vines Agiorgitiko (80%) aged in French oak for 20 months. The oak is nicely controlled at the outset. The acidity is quite high with moderate tannins on the finish. That leaves the wine with a mouthwatering, juicy finish and a crisp, sunny demeanor, but also hints of tartness here and there, which occasionally get quite strong, leaving the wine with a sour cherry note. At times it seems graceful; at other points in its development, it seemed a touch shrill. Some aeration helped in that regard, although the oak at that point seemed more obvious. At a minimum, this needs a little cellaring to hone the sharp edges. At the moment, it was hard to warm up to this. Drink 2012-2018. Importer: Diamond Importers, Chicago, IL; tel. (773) 549-6211
