The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva shows evolved tones of dried fruit, cassis, licorice, balsam herb and wet earth that are all very characteristic of cooler-climate Sangiovese. Those varietal tones are enhanced by etched mineral tones of brimstone and lead pencil that add an extra sense of focus and brightness. The wine popped up in my blind tasting for its elegance and grape typicity.

An elegant version, combining the freshness of the vintage with strawberry and raspberry fruit, along with floral and mineral aromas and flavors. Firm, with a finish of fruit, spice and mineral.
