Charvin has always made a top-notch Cotes du Rhone from vineyards adjacent to their Chateauneuf du Pape holdings, and the 2006 Cotes du Rhone Le Poutet and the 2005 Cotes du Rhone Le Poutet are both noteworthy choices for bargain hunters. Both exhibit plenty of kirsch liqueur, excellent ripeness, medium body, no hard edges, and loads of Provencal personality and soul. Both are capable of lasting 4-5 years, possibly longer in the case of the 2005.
