A solid, enjoyable effort that has a classic feel in its blackberry, black cherry, licorice and pepper dominated bouquet, the 2013 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Traversier is medium-bodied, mid-weight, yet nicely balanced on the palate. A blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah and the rest Mourvèdre, Cinsault and other permitted varieties, aged all in concrete tank, it’s best enjoyed over the coming 5-8 years.
