Lastly, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Traversier (70% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault, aged all in concrete) is a classic, medium-bodied Chateuneuf du Pape that gives up light red fruits, peppery herbs, damp earth and forest floor. Medium-bodied, elegant and juicy, it could use more depth and richness, yet it’s nicely balanced, fresh and clearly well-made. It should drink nicely through 2022.
