The 1997 Vin Santo is, as always, one of Tuscany’s best, almost decadently sweet in its aromas and flavors of dates, hazelnuts, and candied orange rind and its viscous, high volume palate, whose bracing acidity keeps the sugars from overpowering the wine. Drink: 2005-2020. There are few men in Tuscan wine I admire more than Paolo De Marchi, for me the number one producer in the region for the variety and consistent high quality of his wines.
