The 2006 Chianti Classico La Forra reveals a dark profile of black fruits, menthol, spices and French oak. There is an added touch more volume, as the wine shows off its superior density and richness. The tannins finish big, but here, too, the wine’s balance is impeccable. This is a ripe and chewy wine with syrupy aromas of mature cherry, blackberry, cured meat and pipe tobacco (there’s a 10% component of Cabernet Sauvignon that adds density and thickness to the Sangiovese).
