Costanti’s 2006 Rosso di Montalcino is a jewel of a wine. A floral, perfumed bouquet leads to sweet red cherries, herbs and tobacco. This mid-weight, ethereal Rosso offers terrific purity and a long, refined finish. It is glorious Sangiovese at the Rosso level. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014. My recent visit with Andrea Costanti was illuminating, as I had the opportunity to taste a number of lots of his Brunellos from cask and tank.
