Last Tasted 9/92
This is a great success in a vintage that has produced many rich, tannic, but atypical and unusual red burgundies. Mongeard managed to achieve extraordinary finesse and complexity without the wine being burdened down by rustic tannins. The wine possesses a saturated garnet color, and a huge perfume of roasted herbs, black fruits, and flowers. Full-bodied, with opulent, multi-dimensional flavors, tons of glycerin and sweetness, and a lusty, high alcohol finish, this wine has reached full maturity. It should continue to hold nicely for another 4-6 years.
