The 1997 Chianti Classico Riserva is a barrique-aged blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Franc and Malvasia Nero. It is beautifully textured, dense, chewy, rich wine, with a glorious bouquet of spring flowers, red and black fruits, tobacco, spice box, leather, and earth. The sweet tannin, acidity, and oak are all well-integrated in this medium to full-bodied, beautifully harmonious 1997. It will be at its apogee between 2003-2018. Bravo!
