Served blind, alongside the 2003 Bourgogne Rouge, the 2003 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Véroilles put in a strong showing considering the vintage. The nose is quite floral in style, well defined with black rather than red fruit, hints of honey and fresh fig infusing the black fruit. The palate is full-bodied for one of Ghislaine's wines, but nicely balanced, the acidity lower than other vintages as you would expect, yet offering good substance and structure on the voluminous finish. What it lacks in finesse is compensated by sheer gumption! Tasted September 2015.
