The 2002 Chambolle-Musigny Les Veroilles, from a parcel high on the hillside, offers aromatics of blackberries, stones, and earth. Masculine, highly concentrated, and powerful, it is a wine that all the self-proclaimed terroirists who spout the “Chambolle is always lacelike and feminine” nonsense should be required to taste. Its licorice, blackberry, and cassis-packed flavor profile builds on the palate, displaying enormous depth and muscle. Additionally, loads of ripe tannin can be found in this brooding effort’s lengthy finish. Projected maturity: 2007-2018.
