Hats off to Matariki for making a very good Pinot for under $20. It’s gently herbal on the nose, with cherry aromas and a faintly gamy note, then shows primarily black cherries and plums on the palate. It’s medium in body, with silky tannins and hints of chocolate and raisin on the finish. Drink now. ——J.C.(11/1/2009)—— 87
