The 2004 Chianti Classico is 100% Sangiovese that was aged in French oak and steel for a full 18 months, far longer than most Chiantis are aged these days. The wine reveals a contemporary expression of Sangiovese in its sweet dark fruit, spices, tobacco and toasted oak. Castello di Bossi is located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, the southernmost part of the Chianti Classico area, and it carries the indelible DNA of this warm microclimate in its generous personality. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2012.
For some reason, I don’t get a chance to taste the wines of Castello di Bossi as much as I would like, yet the wines I do taste are consistently impressive.
