Despite the warm growing season, the 2009 Barolo Boscareto shows less plumpness and succulence than I might have expected. This is a tight and linear wine that hits the palate with firm and direct intensity. It offers dried fruit aromas with tar, spice and powdered licorice. The mouthfeel is compact and streamlined.

An elegant style from a rich vintage, offering cherry compote, menthol, licorice and tobacco flavors. The tannins are on the aggressive side, but sweet fruit offsets them in the end.
