The 1993 Cotes du Rhone Cairanne Prestige is made from 100-year old vines, of which 60% are Mourvedre. It is a dead-ringer for a top Chateauneuf du Pape. The wine offers a penetrating bouquet of new saddle leather, black fruits, pepper, herbs, and truffles. Deep, full-bodied and supple, with layers of fruit, it should drink well for 7-8 years. Impressive! Run by the Alary Wine Company, this domaine proved to be a discovery.
