Luna's entry into the super-Tuscan look-alike contest is their 1997 Canto Proprietary Red, a blend of equal parts Merlot, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in small barriques, of which 50% were new. The wine's deep plum/purple color is accompanied by a cedary, fruit cake-scented nose, medium to full body, a sweet attack, and a long, structured, moderately tannic, impressively endowed finish.
