Urlar is the Gaelic word for “earth.” This Gladstone Pinot Noir is just delicious. The nose is pure with plum-scented fruit, a touch of over-ripe Satsumas, perhaps a little muffled. The palate is fleshy and generous, nicely balanced, well-integrated oak and a wave of pure red cherry fruits on the persistent finish. The kind of Pinot that disappears quicker than you would like it to. I’ll be looking out for Urlar’s releases in the future. Drink now-2012.
