The 2006 Onix Seleccio is 100% Carinena sourced from 80+-year-old vines and aged for 12 months in new French oak. Opaque purple in color with a sexy nose of liquid mineral, Asian spices, lavender, black cherry, and blackberry liqueur, on the palate it is dense, rich, and already complex. Give it another 3-4 years to fully blossom and enjoy it from 2014 to 2021, if not longer.
Vinicola del Priorat is a cooperative with 45 growers that produces 18,000 cases annually at an exceptionally high level of quality. For a good many years the Onix Classic has been many Spanish wine enthusiast’s introduction to Priorat.
