The 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape is the finest wine I have tasted under the Brunier administration. It possesses a deep ruby/purple color, and an excellent black cherry, herbes de Provence, olive, and peppery-scented nose. The wine achieved 14.5% natural alcohol, and offers plenty of glycerin in its opulent, rich, full-bodied texture. Some tannin is present, but the wine's overall impression is one of lusciousness, generosity, and copious quantities of fruit and extract. It should drink well for 7-8 years. This wine is made by Daniel and Frederic Brunier, whose family acquired this estate in 1986. Although the wines were good in the past, quality under the Bruniers has improved immensely.Importer: Chateau and Estate Wine Co., New York, NY; tel. (212) 572-7725
